Idaho IEP and School Medicaid Billing
In Idaho, school-based services for students requiring special education are closely tied to Medicaid programs, which offer a crucial source of federal Medicaid funds for special education and related services. The IEP team plays a vital role in developing each student’s IEP, ensuring that the plan meets the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and outlines the supplementary aids necessary for the student’s success. Local Education Agencies (LEAs) must navigate Medicaid reimbursable services to maximize reimbursements for eligible children with disabilities. By aligning their special education programs with Medicaid guidelines, Idaho schools can effectively manage and secure funding for services that support students eligible for special education, thus enhancing their educational experiences and addressing their unique needs.

We typically submit claims based on a set schedule, the third full week of the month. However, we work with each district to customize this schedule to meet their specific needs.
The billing deadline is one year from the initial submission date. Subsequent rebills are due two years from the original submission date.
Section 504 presents a unique billing opportunity for schools in Idaho. Qualifying school districts now have the flexibility to bill Medicaid for health services provided to Medicaid-enrolled students with a 504 plan, not just those with an IEP.
A new referral is required every 365 days. Additionally, each signed referral must be reviewed and re-signed every 90 days to ensure the plan of action remains on track.
How We Help ID School Districts
In-House Physician
Go Solutions provides a dedicated physician who signs referrals on behalf of the district. This eliminates the need for districts to seek external doctors for signatures.
Credentialing & Audits
We assist Idaho schools with credentialing and audits for overlapping services, ensuring compliance and accuracy in service documentation.
Efficient Processing
Once the referrals are signed by our in-house physician, we promptly enter the signed referrals into the district’s system. This ensures all necessary documentation is processed quickly and efficiently, streamlining the referral process for districts and ensuring timely access to essential services for students.

504 billing in Idaho:
Maximizing Medicaid Reimbursements for School-Based Health Services
Section 504 presents a significant opportunity for school districts in Idaho to enhance their Medicaid billing capabilities. Unlike traditional billing practices that are limited to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), this opportunity allows qualifying districts to bill Medicaid for Medicaid-enrolled students with a 504 plan, not just those with an IEP. This flexibility enables districts to access additional reimbursements for a broader range of services.
Eligibility
To qualify, the following criteria must be met:
- Students: Must be enrolled in Medicaid, have a 504 plan, and receive medically necessary services.
- Care Plans: Must be prescribed and signed/dated by a Qualified Medical Provider (QMP) enrolled with Medicaid, and include details on the scope, duration, and frequency of services.
How Go Solutions Can Assist
With our expert support, your district can confidently navigate the state’s Medicaid program while maintaining full control over Section 504.
